The Home Theater Store originated in 1997 adding a retail store in 2002. Born out of passion, a desire to help expand the addressable market, and personal frustration with snake oil ( $10,000 interconnects and $5,000 stylus’ I’m looking at you), we looked to help bring more enthusiasts into the world of front projection home theater and quality, yet practical, surround sound.
We’ve since moved the business to an “appointment only” business model, while retaining our emphasis on the most “bang for the buck”. High-end audio and HT is notoriously known for the “law of diminishing returns”. I refuse to foolishly invest my clients budget and spend a quarter to get a nickels worth of performance.
Now with the advent of Dolby Atmos and object based audio the game has changed. No longer do we recommend diffuse bi-pole/di-pole surround speakers but direct radiating to provide pin-point accuracy projecting sound into a “sound bubble” where there are no speakers.
The Goal for THTS is not to make you feel like you’re sitting in a movie theater. No, it’s to make your walls melt away and fully immerse you and your family into the film for a 2-hour vacation from reality.
Video is relatively easy to obtain excellence, but when you get a heightened audio experience that’s where the emotion enters creating a magical experience.
